Hidden Rock Ranch (dog friendly)

Welcome to the beautiful HIDDEN ROCK RANCH, in the Hill Country of Fredericksburg! Here, you can safely walk out nature trails, and swim or fish, in our spring-fed lake. You can make a camp fire, take in the incredible stars in the night sky, and photograph some amazing wildlife on our 100 acre nature preserve. Our wildlife on premises include Zebras, Black Buck Antelope, Axis, and White Tail Deer, exotic Mouflon sheep and many species of birds and local wildlife. Our ranch is a photographer's dream. No crowds or uncertainties to contend with. So come on out and bring your kiddos and the family dog! Dog fee is $35 per pet, per day. Two pet maximum. We look forward to seeing y'all at our very private "Home On The Range". The rate as of May 18th, 2021 is for 6 people.

  We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The countryside was absolutely beautiful. We saw deer and zebras and majestic views. The cabin was very nice and so quiet. Would definitely love to stay here again!

  Great stay, LOVED the wildlife and ALL THE BEAUTIFUL STARS.
  The cabin was lovely and clean but there was two full trash bags sitting outside on the porch.
  
  Also - BE AWARE:
  The bedrooms are on the second floor and the stairs are very, very steep. Not for elderly humans or dogs, dangerous for children.
  
  Besides that, the trip was lovely and would stay again.

  What a great escape! This cabin is comfortable and fully equipped. Plenty of room. The grounds are beautiful and it is so much fun to watch the wildlife, the sheep, and the zebras! Star-gazing is amazing from the deck. Warning: you will spend some quality family time here and not want to leave.

  We had the most wonderful few days away at Hidden Rock Ranch--it's in a national dark skies zone and we came to watch the Plieades meteor shower at its peak. The star gazing was incredible. Do come equipped with groceries etc. because supplies are about a half hour away down country roads. Watch for deer hopping across all the time--beautiful yet dangerous if you're not careful while driving. Cell reception is minimal but the wifi is great. The hosts are very responsive and live down a path on the ranch, though their house is not visible from the cabin. Doss General Store has delicious BBQ etc. and is 10 minutes up the road from the ranch, but they carry a very limited supply in the way of you'd have to go down to Harper or Fredricksburg for those. A lovely, disconnected escape.

  Looking for an escape from the bustle of the city or perhaps just want a change of pace? Hidden Ranch is well hidden, zebra, sheep, exotic deer, the occasional bunny, and the silence...sheer silence is what meets you here. The best in my opinion is the upper deck at dusk and night! Perfect! If you have done all Fredericksburg has to offer and still looking for a small gem in the rough, head to Mason. It’s quite charming. The beauty of this part of the hill country is on full display at Hidden Rock! You might not want to leave!

  The property is secluded and quiet. No vehicle noise, wildlife every where and the porches were very relaxing. Fishing in the pond with a fly rod was very good. Caught a 5lb catfish, numerous perch and a couple of small bass. Pond area very clean and relaxing.
